Stone Pine

Pinus pinea - Stone Pine, the propped up tree

Originally owned by Princess Augusta who kept it in a pot before it was planted out.   This restricted the growth and unlike wild stone pines it has lots of low spreading branches.

It began to tilt after losing a limb in a 1926 snowstorm, so was propped up.   It lost three more main branches in storms in 2013
